Intergraf is an associate of the recently completed OPHAL (‘Optimised Paper Handling & Logistics’) project, which brings together expertise from across the whole paper supply chain, from the mill, through to transport, storage, handling and printing. The project provides a generic, best practice guide for suppliers, transporters, converters and printers to improve their efficiency—whether sheetfed or web offset, gravure, flexo or digital.
This toolbox is the final product of a unique and collaborative project involving more than 30 organisations from the paper supply chain. It is well-illustrated, with easy-to-read text and various performance-enhancing tools that can be used by employees at multiple levels.
The 270 page guide is presented in 11 modules, the final one being “At the Printer—Paper onto Press”. This section deals with a range of printing issues, including paper conditions, internal logistics, roll processing (i.e. dealing with paper rolls and splicing), sheets & palletised paper, and the separation and recycling of waste. Various different printing techniques are taken into account to ensure the guide’s usability across a wide cross-section of the industry.
The toolbox costs €250/$280, but as an associate of Intergraf you are eligible to download a FREE e-book from the project website: www.ophal.info. For more information please contact us.
